SEATTLE
CENTER ACADEMY Common Questions
Who
can apply? Seattle Center Academy is open to King County students presently in grades 7-8. When
is it? The 2006 Seattle Center Academy will be July 31-August 11.
How
do I apply? The 2006 application will be available in February. Watch this site for a downloadable application. You can also e-mail academysc@seattle.gov or call our office at 206-233-3959.
How
much does it cost? Tuition varies depending on a number of factors, such as eligibility for the school lunch program. Many scholarships are available.
Buses
are provided from most centrally located middle and junior high schools.
What’s
the day like? A
bus picks you up at a designated stop for your morning ride to
Seattle Center. You
get a light snack before your morning class. (You get to choose
your classes.) After two hours of fun and creativity, you have lunch,
provided by Seattle Center House restaurants.
Then it’s off to your afternoon class and finally a bus ride
home, leaving at about 2:30pm.
What
happens at the end? You’ll
get to perform and display what you’ve created for your friends and
family on the final day.
My
parents want to check it out! An orientation for students and parents gives parents/guardians and kids a chance to meet the staff, teachers, volunteers, ask questions and tour the facilities.
